The first big moment of Linden High School’s football home opener arrived before the game itself. As the lights came on at Tiger Stadium, the school’s NJROTC color guard presented the colors at midfield, giving the packed crowd a quiet, respectful opening after a day of remembrance for the lives lost and sacrifices made on Sept. 11, 2001.

RAHWAY, NJ — Roots rock and Americana electrified Rahway Arts District Park when The Lonesome Pines played their wide-ranging mix of original tunes on Saturday, Sept. 12. The group brought a Country Western-inflected mix of guitars, pedal steel guitar, fiddle, bass, percussion, banjo and mandolin to their performance of original songs about love, loss and redemption. Cowboy hats showed up too.
