Cowboy Hats and Roots Rock: The Lonesome Pines Play Arts District Park

RAHWAY, NJ — Roots rock and Americana electrified Rahway Arts District Park when The Lonesome Pines played their wide-ranging mix of original tunes on Saturday, Sept. 12. The group brought a Country Western-inflected mix of guitars, pedal steel guitar, fiddle, bass, percussion, banjo and mandolin to their performance of original songs about love, loss and redemption. Cowboy hats showed up too.

Band members are from Metuchen and Woodbridge, so for them, this was a hometown show.

"It was a great evening," said lead guitarist Steve Kaplan. "A bunch of our fanbase were here and a number of people were drawn in by the music and stayed for the show. It means a lot to us when people respond to our music and decide to stay because they're connecting with our music."

Fiddle player Paul Caluori added that "We love to play outdoors and this park sounds fantastic. There is a natural reverb to the place that gives the sound a big, gorgeous lift. One person who's heard us play many times told me that we sounded better than ever here. It would be great to play this spot again. We had a great time!"

The performance was the final show of Rahway's 2026 performance series at the park. The Lonesome Pines can be heard on all major streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify; more information is available at thelonesomepines.com.
